In all her glory

Aarushi

The girl who was fire itself.

Aarushi Gupta smiling, standing in front of a brightly painted wall of marigold and teal.

She loved her family and her food, and she argued like the truth depended on it. A law student at NLU Jodhpur, she reached the final of an international moot in Vienna twice, representing India, and the second time she won. A few of the rooms you could find her in.

Aarushi relaxing in a red deck chair outdoors, smiling easily at the camera.

Her people

The ones she lit up

Family first, always. The cousins she grew up beside, Holi colour on every face, the people she came home to.

Aarushi with three of the women in her family lying together on the grass at Holi, faces bright with colour, all laughing.
Holi, the whole crew in colour.
Aarushi as a young child in a colourful knitted poncho, looking into the camera.
From the very start.
Aarushi as a small child with her cousins, gathered on a ledge by a lake.
The cousins, small.
Aarushi hugging her grandfather at Holi, both of their faces covered in bright colour, smiling.
With her grandfather.
Aarushi taking a night-time selfie with three of her cousins, all dressed up and smiling.
Late nights with the cousins.

Her table

She loved to eat

No ceremony about it. A bucket of fried chicken on the table and that grin said the rest.

Aarushi grinning down at a table spread with buckets and boxes of fried chicken.
The face of a good meal.

Vienna

She argued, and she won

A law student at NLU Jodhpur, quick on her feet and hard to rattle. She reached the final of an international moot in Vienna twice, representing India, and the second time her team took the cup.

On the steps in Vienna, representing India.

Out in the city after the rounds.

Champions. The second time, they won it.
